Dell OpenManage Release 4.4 will be released May 31, 2005 with support for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Until the release of OpenManage 4.4, Customers should be aware that security settings implemented by
Service Pack 1 will prevent earlier versions of OpenManage from reading key system identification information from Dell servers.

Customers who require OpenManage support now should wait until the availability of OM 4.4 to install Service Pack 1.

Customers who require SP1 now should remove OpenManage before installing SP1 and be aware that no OpenManage support is available for SP1 until OM4.4. Attempts to install any version of OM with SP1 will result in a “unsupported hardware configuration” error during the installation process. OM 4.4 will be available on the web on May 31.

Customers who order servers with Windows Server 2003 from Dell after June 20 will get Service Pack 1 pre-installed, along with OpenManage 4.4.

Yahoo is reporting that Dell won’t be using AMD chips. They called them the “lone holdout among hardware makers”.
Infoworld is reporting that Intel will have its “first dual-core chips, the Pentium D and Pentium Extreme Edition 840, by the end of June”
